How a leak visit goes out here
We start by confirming it is water, not refrigerant — and it always is, because a sealed system cannot puddle on your floor. From there it is detective work: we check the defrost drain for ice and mineral scale, flush and treat it if it is blocked, and watch a defrost cycle to be sure the melt water clears the way it should.
If the water traces to the ice maker, we inspect the fill valve and the supply line for the hard-water scale and cracks that are so common on the island, and replace the failed part. There is water pooling inside the fridge, not on the floor — same problem?

Keep it running if it is still cooling — the leak is a drainage or supply issue, not a cooling failure, so the food is fine. Put a towel down to protect the floor and custom cabinetry, and if you can reach the ice maker or water supply shutoff and the leak is clearly from that line, closing it stops the water while you wait. My ice maker is leaking — is that the same fix as a floor puddle?
Sometimes, sometimes not. An ice maker leak can be the fill valve sticking, a cracked or scaled fill tube, or a frozen line dumping water when it thaws — all hard-water-driven here. A general floor puddle is more often the defrost drain. We check the ice maker, the supply line, and the defrost system together so we fix the actual source rather than guessing. Will a leak damage my cabinets or floor before you can get out?
It can, which is why we prioritize leak calls into the island route.
